Moscow. YAMAL LNG company is launching an international contest open to visual artists, graphic designers and architects to present a project for Yamal LNG tanks art design located in the Russian Arctic.
The contestants are expected to submit their projects in a jpg format: the four projects selected by the international jury will be used to decorate 4 tanks, over 40 meters high, built to store the LNG to be produced at the YAMAL LNG’s future plant. This will be the first industrial design project ever done in the Arctic.
The award to each of the four winners will be an equivalent of 5 thousand euro. The jury will include world-renowned experts in international contemporary art. Curator Francesco Bonami has been appointed the head of the jury and the curator of the contest. It is expected that the Jury will be composed of V-A-C Director Teresa Mavica, the Director of the Stockholm’s Moderna Museet Daniel Birnbaum, the Chief Curator at the Mori Art Museum Mami Kataoka and representatives of Yamal LNG’s shareholders. According to Francesco Bonami, the project, the first ever of this kind for its scale and geographic location, should appeal to both internationally acclaimed and emerging artists, for its challenging nature and for the opportunity to create a dialogue with a unique environmental context.
Qualitaly support the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and its director Vasili Tsereteli for the collection and the presentation of artists and projects for the contest. The participation, totally free in all its phases, is devoted to everyone: the association acts as a collector of the projects from its web of artists and it will present all the proposals received by them.
All interested parties are invited to present their projects (no more then three per artist), in high-resolution JPEG (format 1600×1200) with e brief description, to the email address: email@example.com by May 19th 2017.
The announcement of the winners, based on the selections of the International Jury, will be announced after June 9th 2017.
